Garron and Abby Combs

Ok so I’m guessing that I owe everyone an explanation for not updating my blog. When I first started this blog I was able to update it pretty much whenever needed because work was really slow. Well, since my last post, I have been pretty busy and haven’t been able to update it. And right now as I am starting this blog, I just got another project on my desk. Its always good to stay busy… but then I never get my blog updated!!

Oh ya and…. MY CAMERA BROKE!!! I usually keep my camera in my purse so that on the chance that Garron is making a funny face while watching TV, I would be able to snap a quick photo (he hates that). Or just whenever I need it.  I don’t (or I didn’t) have a case for it but I kept it in my purse anyway. When we were in Mexico for our honeymoon, I dropped it off the 4-wheeler and the zoom button fell off, but it still was taking pictures. But then, just before 4th of July (I know forever ago!), it just stopped working. The screen when black and I couldn’t even look at the pictures I had already taken. So it DIED!!! It was a sad day.

So many things have been going on that I don’t even know where to start. For the most part, Garron and I still sit at home at night, eat dinner (on the couch) and watch Without A Trace or CSI Las Vegas. It really is our favorite thing to do. Occasionally, we will go out to a movie or go over to his parent’s house, one time we even went on a walk, but for the most part we are just enjoying our time together and being at home.

I will try and fill you all in on the events of recent days.

July 4th weekend- Garron and I went up to my parent’s house (in Highland, Utah) for the annual 4th of July event. On our way into town we went to Uncle Gordon’s duplex for the 3rd of July BBQ and fireworks. The park next to the house always has fireworks and booths set up and it’s a Combs’ tradition to partake in the festivities. **Funny Side Note**- When Garron and I met (6 years ago) our first date was this same event. I met his whole extended family and had a blast! It was so fun to revisit that day. Once we helped all the cousins settle in at the park, Garron and I left for my parent’s house. They were waiting up for us when we arrived and it was SO good to see them. We chatted for a bit and then went to bed (details, details, so important! Right Mom?). The next day we spent with Hellbusch family at Raging Waters and it was so fun to have friends and family to chat with. That night we had a late dinner (8:30) and then fireworks. My dad and Grandpa went to Wyoming last year to get the BIG Fireworks however, they didn’t use all of them last year. So this year we got quite the show. We were a little scared that my dad, husband, and grandpa were going to jail. But we conquered the law!!! Haha. All in all we had a WONDERFUL time.

Last weekend AnaElise and Jim (Garron’s Aunt and Uncle) drove through Vegas. They stayed a night with Garron’s parents and then headed to California for their family vacation. AnaElise has two sisters, one with two kids and one with four kids. Ana and Jim have six so all together there are 13 kids. Also AnaElise’s parents went with them. They have done this for a couple of years and really enjoy it.

On the way back from California, AnaElise and her sisters decided to stay in Vegas for another couple of days or for the week. One of Ana’s sisters lives here now and everyone is staying over at her house. Saturday night we all met up for dinner at PEI WEI. I had never been there before and so I was very excited. Then I remembered that I really cant eat real food. So I pack Jello, Applesauce, and a Fruit Cup and we joined everyone at PEI WEI. We had a blast hanging with the kids and Ana. We dont get to see them too often so it was really fun to spend sometime talking with her. After dinner we headed over to Neilsens Frozen Custard for some ice cream. It was delicious! I can definetly have that!

After ice cream we went back to Ana’s sister’s house to drop off kids. We realized that there isnt a whole lot of room for everyone, so we offered to take Ana and her kids to our house. The accepted and we all had a big slumber party at the Combs house.

Garron and Hunter acting pretty silly. Sorry its kinda blurry.

The next morning was church. So I got up and made breakfast for everyone and after we were all ready we headed for church. After church we spent the day relaxing in front of the TV and eating.

Thanks Ann for staying with us and getting a chance to catch up. We love you!

I was really excited to continue my weekly post yesterday, however, I was actually swamped with work. I had a big project here for one of the legal assistants and then we had a long (2 hour) staff meeting, then another project for the same assistant and before I knew it, it was time to go home. I really do love my job on days like that. Anyway, so here I am on Friday posting my Thankful Thursday!

1. Stimulus Checks– Garron and I both were quite surprised when we saw our bank account rise without us knowing it. We both received our stimulus checks yesterday morning and were so excited to have it tucked away for a rainy day. (or a day that I want to go shopping!)

2. Date Night– Last night Garron and I decided to go on our date night. I wasn’t the weekend but because I will be leaving tomorrow for Arizona, we decided to go last night. We have both been feeling under the weather with either a cold or allergies and therefore we have been a little behind on our sleep. We wanted to go see a movie but knew that if we did we wouldn’t be in bed till about 11pm or 12am. We also wanted to go celebrate Garrons new job so we decided to go to dinner at one of our favorite places, Claim Jumper. Needless to say, we had a great time walking around Town Square and then enjoying a GREAT meal. Thanks babe!

3. Kitchen at work– The kitchen at work isn’t all that great however it does have some of my favorite things. It has a soda fountain. Like you press the button and either Coke, Diet Coke or Sprite comes out. It really is the greatest thing ever. So for any of you that know me, you know that I LOVE my Diet Coke. I have had to control myself and limit my cokes to just one a day. But that one really makes my day. It also has hot chocolate packets. Lately I have craved hot chocolate. Also, the water fountain has a hot water dispenser so you fill your cup with hot water and then add the hot chocolate packet, stir and wallah… Hot chocolate. It isn’t as good as with milk but it will do.

Last Friday night it was Fathers and Sons for our stake. So Garron, papa, Jared, and Benjamin all went camping. This was the first night that Garron and I have spent away from each other since we have been married. I really missed him but Nana had a great idea to get our minds off our boys being gone. Jennifer (nana, Garron’s Mom) invited me to a girls night out. Trissa, Brianna, Emma, and Joseph all came too. We went to Cafe Rio (another one of my FAVORITE places) for dinner and then Trissa, Nana, and I went to go and see the movie Made of Honor. We had such a great time and it was nice to get out of the house. The boys came home the following morning safe and sound (and VERY dirty!!)

This was at the Theater. They had a display for a new movie coming out. Fun huh?!

And now it’s Trissa’s turn.

We had so much fun on our Girls Night Out! Thanks Nana

So about once a month I get really emotional. If you know what I mean! Last week was one of those weeks. People at work were bugging me and I wasn’t liking my job too much and to top it off I couldn’t stop eating. I just love eating junk food.

So last Wednesday I brought my lunch to work. I love bringing my lunch to work for a couple of reasons. I can take a shorter lunch (get back to getting paid) because I don’t have to leave to get anything. I don’t have to spend any money for food, and I don’t have to waist any gas. Its really a great thing. Plus I love left overs. Something about eating it the next and sometimes longer just makes the food get better. But as lunch came quickly on Wednesday (I love when that happens) I decided that I didn’t want my food from home. I wanted to go out to eat. Garron usually doesn’t like when I go out because I just waist money that we don’t have on junk food, but today no one could stop me. So I decided to go to Carls Jr. I love this place! It is the ultimate junk fast food place. It leave you feeling full for only about five bucks. If anyone knows me, they know that I LOVE this place. I especially love their ranch dressing!!!!!! It is my favorite. If you have never had the wonderful opportunity to experience eating a cheeseburger and fries drenched in ranch dressing, then you really are missing out. Next time you are wondering where should I eat that cheap but tastes great, think CARLS JR.!!

So I went out to lunch and it did taste amazing. Now I need to go to the gym! Haha…. Try it SOON.

This is Garron eating Carls the day we got back from our honeymoon. They dont have Carls Jr. in Mexico or anything like it on the ship! 😦 So we this was the first thing we wanted when we got home!

We are pretty strange…. Dont you think?
